It’s perfectly natural to feel stressed or anxious from time to time. It happens to everyone. But high stress can have an impact on your body, particularly your autonomic nervous system, the part of your body responsible for regulating your breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, and digestion. By understanding how to regulate your nervous system, you can take proactive steps to manage stress, enhance your wellbeing, and live a more balanced life.
As you’ve seen in the video above that most probably got you here, among the 10 signs that your nervous system might be dysregulated we can find sensory sensitivity, impatience, sleep disorders, irrational fear, body tension and a few more.
If you have 3 or more of the signs in the video, your nervous system is stuck in its on position and this means you find it very hard to feel calm due to the overstimulation. This can result in hyperactivity, anxiety, panic attacks or even anger.
When your nervous system is dysregulated and stuck in its on position, you’re living in fight or flight mode, meaning that you’re in a constant ready to react mode and you need to take action to fix this and restore your nervous system balance.
So how do you fix it?
To be able to fix the nervous system dysregulation, the most important action you can take is to reduce the overstimulation that it’s all around and constantly bombarding us. I know, this is not an easy task, but this is why I’ve used the methods and tools that helped me to shift my focus on myself.
Here are a few methods that helped me greatly when I was in need, when my nervous system was in a terrible condition. I found these after many days of research and turns out these methods and tools are used by millions of people.
1. A hands on approach.
I knew that a physical, hands on approach, would be one of the best methods I could focus on myself. 4. An activity just for you
We all have that passion in the back of our minds, that thing that we always wanted to do, that we would greatly enjoy, but life happened. Here’s the unfiltered truth: if you’ll continue ignoring your wishes and postponing to prioritize yourself, your nervous system will be in a constant state of stress. It may come to a point when it will be way to late and the inevitable feeling of regret.
